Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir found himself at the center of media attention at Delhi airport, following the announcement of India’s 15-member T20 World Cup squad. 

Despite repeated questions from reporters, Gambhir remained quiet, refusing to comment on the controversial selections that have sparked widespread debate.

On Saturday, India’s chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, captain Suryakumar Yadav, and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia unveiled the team India squad that will defend the T20 World Cup title at home starting February 7.

While the squad featured familiar faces, one major omissions sent shockwaves through the cricketing community. Shubman Gill, who had been vice-captain and a regular in the side, was left out entirely, with Ishan Kishan taking his place after his SMAT heroics.

Gill’s poor run of form in T20 Internationals reportedly played a role in his exclusion, while Suryakumar Yadav retained the captaincy and Axar Patel was named deputy.
