Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir found himself at the center of media attention at Delhi airport, following the announcement of India’s 15-member T20 World Cup squad.

Despite repeated questions from reporters, Gambhir remained quiet, refusing to comment on the controversial selections that have sparked widespread debate.

On Saturday, India’s chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, captain Suryakumar Yadav, and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia unveiled the team India squad that will defend the T20 World Cup title at home starting February 7.

Vice-captain Shubman Gill shockingly left out of T20 World Cup squad

While the squad featured familiar faces, one major omissions sent shockwaves through the cricketing community. Shubman Gill, who had been vice-captain and a regular in the side, was left out entirely, with Ishan Kishan taking his place after his SMAT heroics.

Gill’s poor run of form in T20 Internationals reportedly played a role in his exclusion, while Suryakumar Yadav retained the captaincy and Axar Patel was named deputy.

The sudden snub of Gill has left fans and experts questioning the timing and nature of the selection. After serving as vice-captain, Shubman Gill was suddenly left out of the 15-member squad, leaving no space for him to process the decision.

Coach Gambhir refuses to comment on Gill’s shock exclusion

Amid all the chaos, Gambhir faced repeated questions about Gill’s exclusion after landing at the Delhi airport on Saturday, but stayed completely silent, leaving fans to speculate whether his refusal to speak was a deliberate choice or a cryptic comment on the selection.

The veteran coach’s refusal to comment adds another layer to an already dramatic Shubman Gill’s selection saga, highlighting the unpredictable and often turbulent nature of Indian cricket in the lead-up to a major tournament.
