Former World Cup champion Gautam Gambhir from India's 2011 team has made a bold prediction about the top run-scorer for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence on October 5 in India.

While other ex-cricketers and cricket experts have suggested names like Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, and Shubman Gill as potential top run-scorers for the ICC World Cup 2023, Gambhir diverged from the norm by boldly predicting Jos Buttler to claim the title of highest run-getter in this prestigious event.

Unlike his counterparts such as Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Babar Azam, who predominantly bat in the top order or as openers, Jos Buttler plays the role of a finisher for the England cricket team.

It will be interesting to see how he will outperform these players to become the leading run-scorer in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Under the leadership of Jos Buttler, the England cricket team won the T20 World Cup trophy in 2022. Now, the stage is set for Buttler to captain England in their quest for the World Cup 2023 in India, with the dream of securing both the T20 and ODI World Cup crowns in back-to-back years.

The World Cup 2023 will kick off with England facing New Zealand in the tournament opener at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.
