The ICC World Cup 2023 is just around the corner, and excitement among fans and the cricketing world is at an all-time high. Amidst all the anticipation and enthusiasm, former cricket pundits and experts are sharing their opinions on this prestigious event's top performers and potential finalists.

Meanwhile, Australian cricketers recently shared their picks for the top five players in their world ODI XI. They have picked Indian captain Rohit Sharma as the opener in their lineup.

Rohit Sharma, India's leading run-scorer in the 2019 World Cup, remains one of the most prolific batters in ODIs. His explosive form and outstanding batting skills are poised to be valuable assets for India in the upcoming World Cup, as he aims to contribute to the team's campaign significantly.

Australian players have chosen Quinton de Kock to partner with Sharma at the top to bolster the opening position. The keeper-batter has consistently been the linchpin of South Africa's one-day international team.

This World Cup will be de Kock's swan song in ODIs, as he's already confirmed his retirement from the format after the tournament. He's eager to make a meaningful impact and aid South Africa's quest for World Cup glory.

In the number three slot, Australian players have chosen former India captain Virat Kohli, a consistent top run-scorer for India over the past decade.

The Delhi batter has been in outstanding form since the beginning of this year. Additionally, he is on the verge of breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most ODIs in international cricket and aims to achieve this milestone during the upcoming World Cup.

In the fourth spot, Australian players have chosen Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, who has solidified his reputation as one of the most incredible ODI batters for Pakistan in recent years.

In the fifth position, Australian players have selected England's captain, Jos Buttler, known for his prolific run-scoring abilities in white-ball cricket. Buttler must be looking to significantly contribute to England's chances in the 2023 World Cup as they aim to defend their trophy.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence on October 5, featuring the opening match between the reigning champions, England, and the 2019 runner-up, New Zealand, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
