Gambhir Demands 'This' Netherlands Legend To Be Included In India's Coaching Staff

Gambhir likely to include Ten Doechate in India coaching setup [x]

In a surprising move, new India head coach, Gautam Gambhir has demanded BCCI to include former Netherlands batter, Ryan ten Doeschate in his back-room staff. The decision now lies with the BCCI, who have followed the policy of only having Indian core in the coaching team.

Gambhir eager to rope in Ten Doeschate in India coaching staff

It has been reported by Cricbuzz that Gambhir has been given a free hand to choose his own coaching team, and the Dutch legend is on his radar. Ten Doeschate has already worked with Gambhir in KKR, wherein he worked as a fielding coach, as the Knight Riders won the IPL 2024.

The former Netherlands star also holds various positions in KKR's subsidiaries, including the teams in MLC, CPL, and ILT20.

Interestingly, the BCCI are eager to retain T Dilip as the fielding coach, and thus, it will be interesting to see where ten Doeschate fits in. One probability is to offer him an assistant role under Gambhir, but even that has a catch.

Reportedly, Gambhir is also interested in bringing in another KKR coach under his setup, Abhishek Nayar. So, if the BCCI does rope in both ten Doeschate and Nayar, they need to make certain adjustments to include both in their coaching setup.

The newly appointed coach, Gambhir will start his tenure from the Sri Lanka series, which is set to commence at the end of this month.
