Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on a brilliant opportunity to score back-to-back fifties as Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani ended his stay at 49.

After a sedate start by the openers, a momentum changing knock was needed to steer the Indian side to a competitive total. This momentum was provided by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played with aggression and took the Zimbabwean attack to the cleaners.

The CSK captain played some delightful strokes and carried on the good work from his previous match. The right-handed batter looked all set to breach the 50-run mark in consecutive matches, but Muzarabani bowled the perfect delivery to end his stay at the crease.

With the off-side packed with fielders, the Zimbabwean bowler deliberately pitched the ball outside the off and it forced Gaikwad to throw his bat at it. He sliced it from the outer part of the bat and found the fielder at deep cover point. The moment the catch was taken, Gaikwad looked dejected as he missed out on a brilliant opportunity to pile on runs.

Talking about the match, India had a new pair of openers in Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both the openers gave a decent start before they were dismissed, but Gaikwad injected life into the innings as India finished at 182/4.
