Gambhir Arrives At Chepauk With KKR, Eyeing Repeat Of 2012 Final Victory Over Dhoni's CSK

Gautam Gambhir has been the centre of attention, since the start of IPL 2024. Leaving from LSG, he returned to his beloved KKR as a mentor before the mini auction. 

Gambhir revamped the team, bringing in players like Mitchell Starc and Manish Pandey, while also securing Phil Salt as replacement for Jason Roy. After three games in IPL, Gambhir's KKR sits atop the league, remaining unbeaten alongside Rajasthan Royals. 

After yesterday's historic win against Delhi, KKR will enjoy a four-day break before facing CSK at Chepauk. Gautam Gambhir and KKR have already arrived in Chennai ahead of the clash. A jubilant Gambhir was seen at Chepauk, the stadium where he secured his first title for KKR.

The upcoming match against CSK holds immense importance for KKR. Even though they have already defeated SRH, RCB, and DC, they are yet to face the top teams in the table.

CSK, currently positioned in the top four, poses a  tough challenge, particularly with the game happening at Chepauk, CSK's home. CSK has won both their matches at Chepauk, which adds to the challenge. Chepauk also serves as the venue for the IPL 2024 final.


Gambhir's 2012 final memory at Chepauk

Gautam Gambhir secured his first IPL title by leading KKR to victory at Chepauk, defeating MS Dhoni's CSK. CSK were aiming for a hat-trick of IPL wins after their wins in 2010 and 2011, reached the final as one of the finalists. 

KKR, who had never clinched the title before, stood as their opponents. CSK batted first, scoring 190-3 in 20 overs, with Raina and Mike Hussey both scoring fifties. In reply, KKR lost Gambhir early, but Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis played masterful innings to secure KKR a final victory by 5 wickets with 2 balls remaining.

Gambhir will be aiming for a repeat of his past success when he returns to Chepauk as KKR's mentor to face CSK.
