Sanju Samson's six against Archer (Source:@StarSportsIndia/X.com)
Sanju Samson is one of the finest hitters of the cricket ball when he gets going, and he displayed that with some amazing performances with the bat against Bangladesh and South Africa. He hit three hundreds in his last two T20I series, but the series against England has not gone his way, and it continued in the final game as well.
However, he did show glimpses of his talent at the Wankhede and hit 16 runs in the very first over against Jofra Archer. The Indian batter has struggled against short balls throughout the series, so archer bowled a short one first-up. Sanju Samson though was ready and he pulled the first ball for a six over deep mid-wicket. The shot delighted the fans assembled at the ground and Aamir Khan was seen clapping with great joy in the crowd.
Sanju Samson Smashes 16 Against Archer
The next three balls were dot, but the fifth ball was bowled on middle and leg, shorter in length and Sanju Samson pulled it all the way over fine leg for a maximum. The final ball was also cut away towards the third man fence for a boundary and India started off with a bang, 16 in the first over.
The onsalught was a good answer to the critics, but he needed to carry on and that is where he failed again and lost his wicket to Mark Wood in the second over. He lost his wicket off the pull shot again, and the star wicketkeeper batters surely needs to sort out his temperament and technique if he wants to succeed consistently at the international level.
