On Sunday, February 2, India locked horns against England for the 5th and final T20I of the series. In the dead-rubber match, the visitors won the toss and opted to field first. The hosts got off to a flyer as Sanju Samson slammed 16 runs in the first over, including two sixes to Jofra Archer.

However, the tables turned when Mark Wood, who missed the fourth T20I, returned to action. On the 5th ball of the 2nd over, Samson threw his wicket away again on a short delivery. It has become a regular trend now that the bowler follows. They ball short and trap Sanju with a pull shot.

Similarly, in the fifth T20I, Sanju looked to pull away Wood's short delivery but gave a simple catch to Jofra Archer at the boundary. Watch the wicket here.

A Disastrous Series For Sanju Samson

It is worth noting that Sanju, who was India's best T20I batter in 2024, has got off to the worst possible start in 2025. In the ongoing five-match series, Samson has amassed just 51 runs. Further, his 51-runs series is the 3rd lowest by an Indian in a T20I series. Here is the complete list.

Notably, KL Rahul's 15 runs tour in 2021 is the lowest by an Indian batter in a series. Talking about the ongoing match, India are in a commanding position as they have put 110 runs on the board with a loss of one wicket in just 7 overs.
