There is a new buzz in Indian cricket but this time, it is not about the pros. It is about the pros from the office. The Bhartiya Corporate Premier League (BCPL) 2025 has officially been announced and none other than Sourav Ganguly, the man who redefined Indian leadership on the cricket field, has been named its Brand Ambassador.
Sourav Ganguly to inspire India’s working professionals through BCPL 2025
And just like that, the upcoming T20 league for working professionals has already hit its first six before the first ball is bowled.
When it comes to leadership and passion, there is hardly a name that commands more respect than Sourav Ganguly. The former Indian skipper has now taken up a new challenge: inspiring India’s working professionals to bring their A-game to the cricket field.
“I have always believed that the lessons learned on a sports field are invaluable in any professional sphere,” said Ganguly. “The BCPL is a fantastic initiative that brings the excitement of cricket to the corporate world. It’s a platform to unearth talent, foster team spirit, and promote a healthy work-life balance. I’m thrilled to be part of this journey.”
True to his words, Dada has once again stepped up to lead from the front but this time not with the bat, but with belief.
The Bhartiya Corporate Premier League (BCPL) has been conceptualised with one clear vision: to combine cricket with corporate camaraderie. Imagine CEOs pulling off cover drives, analysts diving for catches and engineers turning into death-over specialists, that is the flavour BCPL promises to bring.
The 2025 edition will see 10 city-based teams, filled with employees, entrepreneurs and interns from all corners of the country, battling it out for the coveted title. The tournament stands on three strong pillars: Promoting Sporting Culture, Fostering Camaraderie, and Celebrating Excellence, something every workplace could use a bit more of.
Big goals and even bigger dreams
With an INR 3 Crore prize purse and player salaries ranging from INR 2 to INR 15 Lakhs, BCPL is not just a casual weekend league. There will be auctions, live broadcasts, professional stadiums and awards for top performers like Player of the Tournament, Best Batsman and Best Bowler.
Trials, teams and the road ahead
Before the first ball is bowled, BCPL will hit the road with player trials in 21 cities, spread across four phases. Registrations are already open for all working professionals, from private and government employees to business owners and even interns looking to prove their mettle.
With the former BCCI president at the helm, BCPL 2025 is a movement. A place where office heroes trade ties for jerseys and work pressure turns into scoreboard pressure. It is the kind of initiative that hits the sweet spot between passion and profession. If Dada’s presence is anything to go by, this league is about to knock it out of the park.
