The Men in Blue are all set to take the stage in the Champions Trophy 2025 with their campaign opener against Bangladesh on February 20. The match will be hosted by the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

The match will be an intense battle between India and Bangladesh which will set the tone for the next games in the Champions Trophy. Notably, since their first ODI clash in 1988, India and Bangladesh have played 41 ODIs, with India dominating 32-8.

Bangladesh, however, won 3 of their last 5 meetings, including a 2023 Asia Cup win. As of the upcoming encounter, Indian players are back in their ODI form after a stellar England series at home. Bangladesh however, had a disappointing ODI series against West Indies back in 2024 where they lost 3-0 to the Caribbeans.

Top 3 Captain and Vice-Captain Choices for IND vs BAN

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium pitch is expected to offer a balanced challenge for both batters and bowlers. Expectedly, fresh pitches are to be used for this match after the ILT20 season, which could provide early pace and movement for fast bowlers.

As the game progresses, spinners might come into play, making stroke-making difficult in the middle overs. However, historically, chasing teams have dominated the ground most of the time which might prompt the toss-winning captain to bowl first and utilise the early jitters for batters.

3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma will be a high-risk high-reward option for fantasy teams in the upcoming match. He has been out of form mostly in his recent matches, however, it is a proven fact that the hitman can get out of hand if he gets his rhythm on the pitch.

With an explosive century in the 2nd ODI against England a few days back, Rohit can be a good bet to place as the skipper can outclass Bangladesh bowlers as he dominates with an average of 56.1 in the 17 innings he has played against the country.

2. Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has shown impressive batting form in ODIs, scoring 152 runs in three matches against West Indies in 2024 at an average of 50.67. His recent performances include crucial knocks of 77 and 74, highlighting his ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when needed.

Against India, Mehidy has been a consistent performer, scoring 231 runs in seven ODIs at a strike rate of 83.39. With the ball, he has taken seven wickets at an economy of 5.65, making him a strong all-round choice for fantasy captain or vice-captain.

1. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja's recent ODI form with the ball has been exceptional, picking up six wickets in two matches against England at an economy of 3.21. His figures of 3/26 and 3/35 highlight his ability to control runs while striking regularly.

As an all-rounder, Jadeja adds immense value in both departments, making him a strong fantasy pick. Against Bangladesh, he has taken 14 wickets in 13 ODIs at an economy of 4.45, including a best of 5/33, further solidifying his fantasy potential.
