The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy is levelled at 1-1. The third Test at the Gabba saw no result because of persistent rains. The caravan now moves to the Melbourne Cricket Ground as the iconic MCG will host the Boxing Day Test on December 26.
Both teams are sweating it hard in the nets as they eye a win to strengthen their WTC final qualification chances. Meanwhile, the latest weather forecast for Melbourne has left the fans and also the teams worried.
According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology Senior meteorologist, Melbourne is set to have the hottest day of the year on day 1 of the Boxing Day Test. The weather is likely to notch 39-42° Celsius on December 26.
It is said that Melbourne will witness the hottest day in 2024, and it is an area of concern for the players, particularly the fast bowlers, who will find it difficult to bowl long spells.
“A very hot Boxing Day for large parts of the country. Melbourne could be the warmest day for the first day of the Boxing Day test that we’ve seen on record,” Mr Hines said from the Bureau of Meteorology.
Heatwave has also been announced in several parts of Australia in the coming few days.
