In a shocking development, England's Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from Test cricket. The move came in as a shocker since Broad had a successful Ashes 2023 campaign and the decision took place during the ongoing fifth Test at the Oval.28.15

The lanky pacer played 17 years for England cricket, which included 167 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 56 T20Is.

Broad formed a formidable bowling partnership alongside Jimmy Anderson, and the duo have wreaked havoc in Test cricket for more than a decade.

The fifth Test at the Oval will be his last international game.

The 37-year-old has picked up 845* international wickets, and has been one of the most successful pacers in Test history. Apart from Anderson, Broad is the only pacer to have 600 Test wickets under his belt. In the ongoing fifth Ashes Test, the pacer bagged his 150th Ashes wicket, when he dismissed Australia's Usman Khawaja.

Broad leaves the international stage with a T20 World Cup, won in 2010, and four Ashes series wins. His memorable Test spell came against arch-rivals, Australia in 2015 at Trent Bridge.

Broad showed his class and picked up 8 for 15 to rattle a strong Australian batting lineup.

So far in Ashes 2023, the Nottingham born has picked up 20 wickets in 5 matches, at a strike-rate of 28.15
