On Friday evening, Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered a heartbreaking exit from IPL 2025, with Mumbai Indians (MI) defeating them by 20 runs in a high-voltage eliminator clash. Despite emerging as one of the hot title contenders, GT fell flat in the crucial clash, getting eliminated against the odds.
Although Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan made their blades talk, several GT players couldn't live up to the expectations in the tournament. As the Titans have been knocked out of the IPL 2025, let's analyse and find out which players they might release before the next season.

(Rashid Khan in IPL since 2024)
Once hailed as the greatest T20 spinner, Rashid Khan seems to have lost his Midas touch. The Afghanistan spinner has been a pale shadow of himself since the IPL 2024, as evidenced by the above stats.
He hasn't recorded a single three-wicket haul in his last 27 IPL innings while conceding runs at a miserable economy of 8.92.
Rashid was GT's biggest disappointment this season, managing only nine wickets across fifteen outings at a horrible average of 57.11.
Thus, considering his budget of INR 18 Crores, the Titans could consider parting ways with Rashid and introducing a fresh face to their spin bowling department.
South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee was ordinary with the ball in IPL 2025. Despite playing four matches, the right-arm speedster managed only two wickets at a mediocre economy of 10.92.
While the Titans didn't quite use him as a powerplay specialist, Coetzee's struggles in the middle and death overs were evident. Apart from dropping Rohit Sharma's crucial catch, Coetzee went wicketless and conceded 51 runs in his three-over spell in the eliminator.
Thus, the Titans might decide to release him and free up an amount of INR 2.4 Crores, which they can utilise to purchase a better overseas name ahead of the next season.
3. Karim Janat
Veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Karim Janat played a minimal role for GT in the tournament. While he didn't get an opportunity to bat, Janat's only outing with the ball turned out to be disastrous for the franchise.
The medium pacer bowled a single over, conceding 30 runs against Rajasthan Royals. Given his mediocrity with the ball, GT preferred Arshad Khan as their bowling all-rounder on a regular basis.
Thus, Karim Janat could find himself in the auction pool as the Titans are quite likely to exclude him from their setup.
