Stuart Broad and Matthew Potts are back in the England Test squad for the New Zealand series, while Dan Lawrence is back in the squad for the two-match series in February.

Potts, who made his debut in the summer has played five matches under Ben Stokes' captaincy and has bagged 20 wickets at 28.00. However, he did not feature in the final two matches of the summer against South Africa following the return of Ollie Robinson, and was also omitted from the squad for the Pakistan series.

On the other hand, Lawrence last featured for England during their tour of West Indies last March. He showed great character in the series - scoring 91 and 41 in Barbados but a late dip in form for Essex and a hamstring injury derailed his career.

The 15-member squad also features Olly Stone, who featured for England during the recent ODI series against Australia but has not featured in the whites since the summer of 2021.

Stone has a chance to be the spearhead of the bowling attack, with Mark Wood rested for the series. In a surprise turn of events, teenage sensation Rehan Ahmed, who bagged a fifer on his debut against Pakistan has not been included in the Test squad.

The other notable absentees are Liam Livingstone who is already out with a knee injury, and Jamie Overton and Keaton Jennings who were unused subs for the Pakistan tour.
