In a significant development, Australia's Cameron Green has become the second most expensive player after England's Sam Curran in the ongoing IPL 2023 mini-auction.
Green, who was expected to grab the attention of most of the franchises, went to Mumbai Indians for a whopping amount of 17.50 Crores.
The bidding war continued between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, which the former won, bagging the services of the Australian sensation.
Green grabbed a million eyeballs, when he hammered 118 runs at an average of 39.33 and a blistering strike rate of 214.55 in the T20I series against India.
As someone who can strike the ball cleanly and chip in with a few good overs, Green is expected to bring balance to the Mumbai franchise, who were searching for a seam bowling all-rounder since releasing Hardik Pandya.
However, as he generally bats at the top in the shortest format, it will be interesting to see where MI fit him in a lineup consisting Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma and Tim David.
