The Mumbai Indians suffered one of their most disastrous Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons last year and will look to bounce back under new head coach Mark Boucher

Boucher replaces Mahela Jayawardene, who was elevated to a more global role within the MI ecosystem.

The franchise will want to fill in its glaring weaknesses during the all-important IPL 2023 mini-auction, which takes place today at Kochi. Ahead of the marquee auction, Boucher spoke to PTI about how he wants to catch up with Jayawardene and take on this new exciting project.

"I am sure I will sit down with Mahela (Jayawardene) at some stage and he will tell me what it's all about. But, yeah, I have seen it from the outside and it looks like it was quite an exciting little project that was put together. Looking forward to become one of those family members as well,"

About his coaching style, the former South African player revealed that he is a result-oriented person.

"There is always expectations. It is one of the best franchises in world sport. And with that comes a lot of responsibility. So, I'm a guy who's driven by results. I am very result-oriented as well,"

Mumbai Indians will be led by Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2023, and have retained players like Surya Kumar Yadav, Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah, Tim David, Ishan Kishan, and Dewald Brevis.
