The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed a strong 17-member squad for their three-match series in Pakistan, which will take place in October. To delight fans, Ben Stokes, who picked up an injury during the recent the Hundred competition while representing Northern Superchargers, is back in the mix as captain.

Along with Stokes, the spin trio of Rehan Ahmed, Shoaib Bashir and Jack Leach have been picked, having considered the subcontinent conditions. On the other hand, Josh Hull, Chris Woakes, Olly Stone and Matthew Potts have been added as fast-bowling options.

Brydon Carse And Jordan Cox Receive Maiden England Call-Ups

In another significant news, England have included Brydon Carse and Jordan Cox for the first time in their red-ball set-up. While Carse has represented England in the ODIs and T20Is in the past, this is a first-ever call for Cox across any format.

"Durham seamer Brydon Carse and Essex batter Jordan Cox are the only uncapped players included in the squad," the ECB statement read.

"Captain Ben Stokes is also included as he continues his recovery from a hamstring tear that kept him out of the recent Test series victory against Sri Lanka."
