England's star all-rounder Chris Woakes will not be featuring in the ongoing edition of The Hundred as the ECB has pulled the all-rounder out as a precautionary move after Ben Stokes' injury.

Woakes was all set to feature for Birmingham Phoenix for their final two league stage games Trent Rockets (Monday) and Manchester Originals (Thursday), but the ECB has pulled him out as a precautionary move and to manage his workload.

Notably, England have an important home Test series coming up against Sri Lanka starting from August 21. The Three Lions have already dealt a heavy blow as their captain Ben Stokes is doubtful for the series as he got injured on Sunday while playing in the Hundred.

Stokes, who featured for Northern Superchargers, pulled his hamstring while taking a quick single against Manchester Originals. He was carried off the field by a stretcher and was even seen walking on crutches after the game.

Stokes underwent a few scans and the results are awaited. However, if he gets ruled out, then Woakes would have a bigger and important role in the Sri Lanka series.

However, the report from cricbuzz mentioned that the ECB had already made their mind of pulling Woakes out of the Hundred before Stokes' injury.
