Wriddhiman Saha has expressed his eagerness to reunite with the Bengal cricket team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. After representing Tripura in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, Saha has chosen to return to his roots, aiming to contribute to Bengal’s success on the domestic circuit.

India wicketkeeper, who played for Bengal from 2007 to 2022, emphasized that he has moved on from past issues with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Speaking at Eden Gardens, the 39-year-old stated, "I don't think of the past or the future, but only stay in the present. And on that note, currently, all I am thinking about is playing for Bengal. I have forgotten everything that happened in the past."

The experienced stumper also expressed his willingness to help Bengal in any capacity, particularly in coaching. "Since I am a cricketer, I would be better off helping Bengal in coaching instead of any administrative role," Saha added.

When asked about Sourav Ganguly's involvement in his return, Saha diplomatically responded that the CAB is a collective effort, highlighting that the association is not driven by any single individual.

He expressed confidence that his intentions to play for Bengal would be communicated effectively within the CAB leadership.

"Like how everyone knows dadi is a part of CAB, so is Snehasish da and Naresh sir. It’s not like you have to go through a particular person. An association is not made up of just one person. And if I express my interest to one person, the others will also get to know,” he said.

Saha’s return is timely as Bengal looks to improve on their previous performances, having failed to progress beyond the group stages in the Ranji Trophy and facing early exits in other domestic tournaments.
