Dwayne Bravo Retires From All Forms Of Cricket After Injury In CPL 2024

Dwayne Bravo, the legendary West Indian all-rounder, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect after sustaining a groin injury in CPL 2024. Bravo was playing for Trinbago Knight Riders in the ongoing CPL edition and was supposed to play the whole season. However, an injury while playing against St. Lucia Kings ruled him out of the tournament, and the all-rounder has decided to finally call time on his illustrious career.

Bravo retired from international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup, and played his last IPL game in 2022 for CSK, before taking over the role as a bowling coach for the same franchise. After the ongoing CPL, Bravo was supposed to play for MI Emirates in ILT20, but has now opted out and would not be seen playing competitive cricket from hereon.

Bravo Reveals Retirement Decision On Instagram

Bravo announced his retirement on his official Instagram handle and mentioned that though his mind still wants to keep going, his body is no longer ready for the toil and so he has decided to hang his boots.

"My mind wants to keep going, but my body can no longer endure the pain, the breakdowns, and the strain. "I can't put myself in a position where I might let down my teammates, my fans, or the teams I represent."So, with a heavy heart, I officially announce my retirement from the sport. Today, the Champion bids farewell."

Bravo - A T20 Legend

Dwayne Bravo finished his T20 career with 631 wickets in 582 matches and has also scored 6970 runs which speaks a lot about the utility of the Trinidad lad in the shortest format. He also finished his CPL career as the leading wicket-taker with 129 wickets in 107 matches and is likely to play a role of mentor and coach after his retirement.
