Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin set to return to TNPL 2022

Seasoned Indian campaigners Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin are set to make their Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) returns in the ongoing 2022 season.

Both cricketers were part of the Indian touring party to England. While Karthik was part of India’s T20I setup, Ashwin featured in the Indian squad for the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston.

Karthik, Ashwin to resume roles for their respective TNPL franchises

The ongoing TNPL season is the sixth edition of the tournament. As of now, 19 matches have been conducted across Tirunelveli, Dindigul and Coimbatore.

As per reports, star cricketer Dinesh Karthik will soon be reprising his role for the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans franchise. Similarly, the Indian Test veteran will be making a return for the Dindigul Dragons franchise for the remaining matches of the season.

The Tiruppur Tamizhans have managed to secure two wins out of their four matches and are currently placed at number five on the TNPL 2022 points table. The Dindigul Dragons, on the other hand, are placed a rung below at number six in the eight-team event.

Both teams will be seen in action today, with Tamizhans set to take on the Lyca Kovai Kings at Coimbatore’s SNR College Cricket Ground. Later in the evening, the Dragons will go up against the Chepauk Super Gillies at the same venue.
