The first Test between India and Australia in Perth went rather smoothly, however, tensions between both the sides increased in the ongoing Adelaide Test match. On Day 2, things got heated between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj as both the players had a mini verbal battle with each other.
Australia, just like the first Test match were in a precarious situation as they had lost 3 quick wickets in reply to India's 151. However, Travis Head, just like he did in the WTC finals and World Cup final, stood tall and slammed a scintillating century to push India on the verge of defeat.
War of words between Head and Siraj
The power-packed batter scored almost a run-a-ball 140 as he tormented the Indian side once again with his brilliant batting. He also took a special liking towards Harshit Rana and Siraj as he took them to the cleaners. However, DSP Siraj came back in style as he bowled a deadly yorker to dismiss Head.
A controversy erupted as Siraj gave a fiery send-off to Head and things got escalated between the duo. After the day's play ended, Head attended the presser and took a dig at the Indian team, referring to the Siraj incident.
"I said well bowled to Siraj, he got a little bit back from me after he pointed me to the shed. Slightly disappointed with the way that transpired. If they want to react like that and that's how they want to represent themselves, then so be it".
However, this didn't go well with Siraj, who called the Aussie batter a liar and contradicted his statement from the press conference.
"Travis Head didn't say 'well bowled'. He lied in the press conference. We respect everyone. His way of speaking was wrong, I didn't like it hence the reaction".
India on the verge of defeat
Australia posted 337 in their first innings, courtesy of Head's century. In reply, Indian batters crumbled like a pack of cards as they have lost 7 wickets and still trail the Australian team by 6 runs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is the only recognised batter left as all the experienced players surrendered in front of a brilliant Australian attack. The match is likely to get over inside 3 days, unlike Nitish Reddy could pull off a miracle.
