In a recent news, a 14-year-old girl, Priyanshi Pandey, from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, suffered a fatal heart attack while watching the Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday. Initial reports suggested that she collapsed after Virat Kohli’s early dismissal, but her family has refuted any link between her death and the match.
What Happened To The Young Girl After Kohli's Dismissal?
According to the reports by NDTV, Priyanshi, daughter of advocate Ajay Pandey, was reportedly watching the game with her family when she suddenly fainted. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Her father, who was away at the market during the incident, was immediately informed and returned home to take her to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses Reject Cricket-Related Cause
Contrary to early reports, Priyanshi’s father and neighbours have dismissed the claim that her death was triggered by an emotional reaction to the match. Ajay Pandey clarified that Virat Kohli had not yet started his innings at the time of the incident, and the Indian team was not in a difficult situation.
It is also important to mention that the girl's neighbour Amit Chandra, who witnessed the incident, confirmed that Priyanshi collapsed when India had not lost any wickets.
He urged against speculation linking her passing to the game, emphasising that her death was a medical tragedy rather than an emotional response to cricket.
