On Monday, May 5, Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns against Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, where Pat Cummins won the coin flip and asked Axar Patel-led side to bat first. Both teams made a few changes as T Natarajan replaces Mukesh Kumar for the Capitals.

Meanwhile, for SRH, they too have made several changes as Mohammed Shami misses out and also Nitish Kumar Reddy is also not a part of the playing XI. Meanwhile, this article will look at why has the IPL 2024 emerging player of the season award winner Nitish Reddy misses out against DC.

Why Is Nitish Kumar Reddy Not Playing Today?

Defying the rumours that NKR has been benched because of his poor run with the bat, SRH were forced to make this change as Nitish Reddy is suffering from a stomach infection, which is why he isn't available for selection against the Capitals.

Further, talking about his form, then NKR has looked a pale shadow of his earlier version and only amassed 173 runs in nine innings, averaging just 24.71. It has not been a fine season for NKR, but his recent ouster from the playing XI isn't related to his poor form.

Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, Delhi Capitals have got off to the worst possible start as Karun Nair registered a golden duck and DC have put 3/1 on the board after the end of the 1st over.
