Delhi Capitals’ Rishabh Pant To Be 'Impact Player' In IPL 2024; Unlikely To Keep Wickets

Rishabh Pant will make his much-anticipated return in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, but not as with his primary skillsets for Delhi Capitals (DC). The 26-year-old, who had a horrific car accident last December, underwent surgery in Mumbai in February.

Due to the severity of his injury, many thought his career was over. But Pant did not give up, and his recovery stage is almost in the final stage. However, he is not going to keep wickets behind the stumps, and will solely be used as an Impact Player as a designated batsman, as reported by RevSportz.

With Phil Salt already being released before the mini-auction, DC are likely to have Abishek Porel in the playing XI. They, however, still target a few wicket-keeper options from the available pool when the bidding war takes place on December 19 in Dubai.

Having released quite a few well-known names, DC will go to the auctions with a remaining budget of INR 28.95 crore. Hence, a popular wicket-keeping acquisition is not going to be a tough task for them, albeit Rishabh can still wear the big gloves if he recovers seamlessly in the final stage.
