The rise of Rinku Singh in international cricket has been exceptional, to say the least. After grabbing the eyeballs through some scintillating performances in the IPL 2023, Rinku received his well-deserved national call-up for the away series in Ireland. 

He has been incredible as a finisher since then, amassing 180 runs at an average of 60 and a blistering strike rate of 187.50 in six T20I appearances. 

Considering his exploits in international cricket, Indian fans expect Rinku to achieve the greatness of Yuvraj Singh. Meanwhile, legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has opened up on this comparison during his conversation with Star Sports. 

Hailing Rinku for his self belief, Gavaskar explained how he has changed his fortunes through sheer hard work.

"He has the belief that he could do it, and that's what he's done over the last 2-3 years. Again here in the IPL, he was in and out of a lot of teams when he finally got the opportunity and the way he grabbed it was amazing."

Speaking on his comparison with Yuvraj, Gavaskar stated that it would be a massive achievement for the southpaw if he does even a fraction of what the legendary all-rounder did in his career. 

"And now he's part of an India team. And now there's so much, so many high expectations of them. They are now expecting him to be another Yuvraj Singh. Rinku Singh - Yuvraj Singh. So if you can do even a fraction of what Yuvraj did for Indian cricket, then he will have done wonderfully well."

Talking about Rinku, the explosive batter is currently with the Indian team and will feature in the second T20I against South Africa in Gqeberha on Tuesday.
