DDCA is reportedly going to remove Surinder Khanna and Ashu Dani following their involvement in the tainted Indian Heaven premier League (IHPL) played in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). On Monday DDCA had issued a statement saying “appropriate action shall be taken against the individual”.
DDCA's stern step against individuals involved in IHPL
The Indian heaven Premier League featuring stars like Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill made it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons after the organizers allegedly fled due to unpaid dues, leaving players and hotel staffs stranded. Surinder Khanna and Ashu Dani, the mentor and president of the league respectively were part of the DDCA. Former India wicketkeeper Surinder was part of the cricket advisory committee member and whereas Former Delhi player Dani was the chief junior selector.
Reportedly, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) will be releasing the duo from their duties soon. A top DDCA official told Times of India,
“There’s a criminal case filed against Dani. It is expected he will resign himself although he claims he is innocent. Or else DDCA will have to think of another action. As for Khanna, his role had finished once the selection committees and coaches were appointed for the season. His job was to recommend names for these jobs. He is unlikely to be involved further in the season.”
Official statement released by DDCA
DDCA had already released an official statement addressing the issue on Monday. It mentioned that stake holders involved in any "unapproved, unauthorized, or unrecognized" leagues, matches, or tournaments need to refrain from the association.
“This is to bring to the kind attention of all stake holders including players, coaches, support staffs and match official that during their engagement with the DDCA, they are required to refrain from association with or participation in any unapproved, unauthorized, or unrecognised league, matches or tournaments, whether being held within the state or elsewhere.”
It further mentioned about possible action to be taken against any individual following conflict of interest
“The players, coaches, support staff and match officials are expected to disclose any such relationship or possible conflict of interest immediately and shall ensure that no such conflict persist or subsist and, shall cease immediately. Needless to say that in case of any such unauthorised association, conduct or possible conflict comes to the notice of the DDCA, appropriate action shall be taken against the individual."
Meanwhile after 12 matches of the Indian Heaven Premier League played in Kashmir, no one turned up for the 13th match between Uri Panthers and Gulmarg Royals in Sunday. The Players also refused to come citing unpaid dues.
