In a significant development, Mohammed Shami is still in demand among IPL teams, as report suggests that Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have shown interest in signing the SRH seamer before IPL 2026.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are looking for an experienced Indian seamer, and both have shown interest in bringing in Shami for the upcoming season. This rumour comes right after a news report stating that SRH are looking to release the right-arm seamer for IPL 2026 because of his age and fitness issues.

How both teams can approach Shami deal

There is a lot of chatter around how the deal might progress and by the looks of it, seems like the two teams are set to off-load a player to bring in Mohammed Shami. For Delhi Capitals, they have T. Natarajan, whom they bought for 10.75 crores and it is likely that they give away Natarajan for Shami.

Natarajan was injured for entire IPL 2025 and featured in just one game for the Capitals. Meanwhile, for LSG, they have Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi around 10-11 crore mark and can trade one of them to bring in Mohammed Shami.

Mohammed Shami struggling for form in IPL

Talking about Mohammed Shami, the 35-year-old, last featured for India during Champions Trophy, is struggling for form in IPL. The former purple-cap winner picked up just six wickets in nine innings, with a strike-rate of 30.00 and an economy of 11.23.

Much to everyone's surprise, Shami worked on his fitness and regained his lost mojo in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Notably, Shami has already picked up 15 wickerts in five innings for Bengal.

Reverting back to the trade option, now it is upto SRH to chose the best option for them to fit in Shami.
