Australia Women and Pakistan Women, two teams on the opposite side of the spectrum, will lock horns in the 9th match of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 on Wednesday, August 3.

Australia Women have exhibited an outstanding brand of cricket in the ongoing marquee event. They have won both the matches they played so far and have already qualified for the semi-finals.

Pakistan Women, on the other hand, are yet to win a game in the competition. Winless in two, they are currently reeling at the bottom of the points ranking. They are out of this competition, but will try to salvage a win to save their nation's pride.

The leg-spinner ripped through the batting line-up of Barbados Women in Australia's most recent encounter and guided her side to an easy nine wickets victory. She scalped four wickets in her spell of four overs while bowling 17 dot balls and conceding only eight runs. She didn't let the opposition snatch a single boundary in her spell. 

The 26-year-old was on the cusp of scripting history and becoming the first-ever Women’s cricketer to take a hat-trick in Commonwealth Games (CWG) history during the match, however, skipper Lanning had different plans. 

King removed Shakera Selman and Shamilia Connell on consecutive deliveries and missed a close hatrick as she tugged a thick edge off the bat of Keila Elliott but Lanning who was fielding at the first slip couldn't complete a safe catch. 

CWG 2022: Key Players

The Aussie skipper Meg Lanning slammed an unbeaten 36 runs off just 21 balls in the last match against Barbados Women and helped his side clinch an easy win.

Nida Dar, the experienced Pakistan all-rounder, smacked an unbeaten 50 runs off just 31 balls in their opening fixture against Barbados Women.

Alana King's sensational four-wicket haul bamboozled the Barbados Women's batting lineup in the previous match. She will be aiming to replicate the same against Pakistan as well.
