  • Zim Vs Ban 2022 Nasum Ahmed Delivers The Joint 3Rd Most Expensive Over 34 Runs In T20i History

Nasum Ahmed delivers joint 3rd most expensive over in T20Is

Slow left-arm orthodox Nasum Ahmed created an unwanted record on Tuesday (August 02) as he bowled the most expensive over by a Bangladeshi bowler in the shortest format during the 3rd T20I against Zimbabwe.

Ahmed went on to concede 34 runs in an over to register the joint third-most expensive over by a bowler in this format. While Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya and England's Stuart Broad hold the record for conceding most runs in an over (36), India's Shivam Dube also conceded 34 in an over against New Zealand back in 2020.

It all happened during the 15th over of Zimbabwe's innings when Ryan Burl laid into Ahmed, smashing him for 4 consecutive sixes before backing it up with a four and another six.

ZIM vs BAN: Ryan Burl’s onslaught against Nasum Ahmed here

The onslaught from Burl changed the dynamics of the game completely as Zimbabwe recovered from a hopeless position of 76/6 in 14 overs to post 156/8 in 20.

Burl hammered 6 sixes and a couple of fours in his 28-ball 54 while Luke Jongwe also chipped in with a priceless 35 off just 20 deliveries.

ZIM vs BAN: Ahmed's expensive spell proved to be the turning point

Ahmed finished with figures of 1/40 in 2 overs and in the process, he overtook pacer Saifuddin to deliver the most expensive over for his country in international T20Is.

Saifuddin had conceded 31 runs against David Miller back in 2017.

In response, the Asian Tigers got off to a poor start as they lost their first four wickets inside 10 overs for just 60 runs.

However, former skipper Mahmudullah (27 off 27) and Afif Hossain (39* off 27) led their revival with a 39-run stand before the former and Mosaddek Hossain fell in successive deliveries.

Mahedi Hasan chipped in with a vital cameo of 22 (off 17 deliveries). However, it proved to be too little too late for the visitors as Afif failed to gun down the remaining 19 runs in the final over to hand Zimbabwe a 2-1 series win.
