Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have reportedly refused to issue no-objection certificates (NOCs) to its contracted as well as non-contracted players for the Big Bash League (BBL).

Furthermore, the board has also not cleared its stance when it comes to allowing the players to take part in the novel leagues such as International League T20 (ILT20) and CSA T20 League.

Although none of the Pakistan players have marked their presence in BBL overseas drafts, there were speculations of some them putting their name forward in a few days time. Also, the top Pakistan players have reportedly been approached by franchise owners of the ILT20.

Busy Schedule a reason?

In 2020, PCB decided that the players will be allowed to seek clearance for a maximum of three leagues, excluding the PSL.

However, the reason of denial of NOCs can be the jam-packed schedule of national team in the upcoming months. After the Asia Cup and T20I World Cup, the Men in Green are set to play red-ball matches against England in December. Afterwards, the New Zealand team will tour the country for Tests as well as ODI series.

In its policy, PCB can provide NOCs, if the concerned league doesn't coincide with its events. In addition, the board also wants the players to effectively manage their workload and fitness regime.

Ramiz Raja's Stance on Foreign Leagues

In the 69th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of the PCB in June 2022,  PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja had assured the players of extra compensation to deny offers from the overseas leagues.

“We want to discourage our elite players from signing up for additional off-season events. We feel the players are better off not going to these leagues. We will pay them 50 to 60 percent of the contract amount they are offered where required. This is a very important season for us; we don't want our players to be tired or burnt out. We want them to be ready and fresh to go for national duties," said Raja in June this year.
