Former Indian cricketer and star all-rounder Joginder Sharma has once again grabbed the headlines, this time for his role as the DSP of the Haryana Police.

The 40-year-old recently called for the initiation of legal action against those engaging in violence during the ongoing farmer protests at the Haryana-Punjab border.

Sharma was part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winning side under the leadership of MS Dhoni in South Africa. The Haryana-based cricketer was also a part of the CSK franchise between the 2008 and 2012 editions of the IPL.

As a DSP in the Haryana Police, Joginder Sharma is currently combating the protesters who are perpetrating violence during the ongoing farmer protests near the Haryana and Punjab border.

Sharma recently announced that the Haryana Police will be initiating legal action and will be seeking the cancellation of passports of violent protesters. While talking with the Indian Express, he claimed that the police authorities have already identified over 100 violent protestors and an action is being initiated against them.

Joginder Sharma joined Haryana Police back in October 2007 at a time when he was still an active cricketer.

During his playing days, he represented the national side in four ODIs and four T20I matches between the years 2004 and 2007. Notably, he was also a part of India’s historic 2007 T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa, where he delivered match-winning spells against Australia and Pakistan in the semifinals and the finals of the tournament.

He spent five years at the CSK camp between 2008 and 2012 and played domestic cricket for Haryana before making his exit from the game.
