Gujarat Giants overseas all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner punched out a sizzling 17-ball 30 against UP Warriorz to lift her side’s scoring rate in their WPL 2024 faceoff in Bengaluru. 

The 26-year-old belted four boundaries and a huge six after Gujarat Giants top-order had squandered away their sublime opening partnership between captain Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt.

Ashleigh Gardner’s thunderous cameo at the death eventually lifted the Giants to a competitive 142-5 from their 20 overs after they were precariously placed at 83-3 at nearly run-a-ball.

Ashleigh Gardner ended up sharing 52 runs off just five overs with Phoebe Litchfield to take Gujarat Giants to 135 in 18 overs. Litchfield herself pumped out 35 runs from just 26 balls as the duo led Giants recovery after their semi top-order collapse at the hands of UP Warriorz spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Gardner and Litchfield’s death-overs dexterity took Gujarat Giants to a competitive 142-5 from their 20 overs, as they aim to register their opening points of the WPL 2024 season.
