Cricket Ireland has raised security concerns ahead of the women's limited-overs series in Pakistan. The Irish cricket team is slated to play three ODIs and three T20Is against the hosts between November 4 and 16. The Gaddafi Stadium will host the matches in Lahore.

The Ireland Cricket Board expressed their apprehensions after an assassination attempt was made on former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Punjab region.

A few hours after the attack on Mr Khan, Cricket Ireland took to Twitter and expressed their security concerns regarding the upcoming series.

They stated that they are currently discussing security matters with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and in-country security advisors.

As per Cricket Ireland's official statement, PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain provided the on-ground situation to Ireland Cricket Chief Warren Deutrom and team manager Beth Healy.

Cricket Ireland's security advisors will also continue to monitor the situation. As of now, no changes are expected to be made to the schedule.
