The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday (September 15) unveiled their squad for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2022, which will be held from 16 October to 13 November in Australia.

In the 15-member World Cup squad, top-order uncapped batter Shan Masood received his maiden T20I call-up. The left-handed batter has also been included in the squad that will take the field against England in the upcoming T20I series, starting September 20 in Karachi.

Getting a maiden call-up for T20Is against England and the T20I World Cup also means that Masood will miss upcoming matches for English County Club Derbyshire Falcons.

Team has benefitted from Shan Masood's presence: Arthur

Pakistan's former coach and current Derbyshire head coach, Mickey Arthur heaped rich praise on Shan Masood, stating his presence and experience have benefitted the other players in the Derbyshire squad.

“Shan  [Masood] knows how highly I’ve valued his contributions on and off the field this summer. He’s been a model professional during his time with us and the whole squad has benefited from having a player of his experience and attitude with us."

Arthur further said that the County Club is looking for more overseas professional players like Shan Masood who bring good experience and positive attitude along with them and enhance the current squad.

“That’s the level of overseas professional we need to be striving for as a Club and we’re beginning to look into options for next year which must enhance our current squad, a group of players which themselves have kicked on this year."

As for Shan Masood, the Pakistan southpaw finished fourth in the batting charts of County Championship Division-Two 1074 runs in just 13 innings, including two double tons, a hundred and four half-centuries.
