Jimmy Neesham recently took a dig at Rajasthan Royals while responding to one of his fans on Twitter. The New Zealand all-rounder joined the Royals franchise for this year’s IPL; however, the cricketer spent the entire season without playing a game.

As it turned out, a fan asked Neesham why he does not perform in IPL like he does in international matches for the Black Caps. The cricketer, known for his active presence on the microblogging site, delivered a hilarious response which seemingly appeared as a dig towards the Rajasthan Royals’ team management.

Neesham mocks Rajasthan Royals through a cryptic tweet

When a fan compared Neesham’s contrasting IPL and international performance, the cricketer responded that he would struggle at international level as well if he received lesser opportunities like he does in IPL. Neesham wrote:

“I probably wouldn’t perform well in international cricket either if I played one game a year."

The all-rounder further clarified his tweet with a detailed explanation.

Interestingly, Neesham made his IPL debut back in the 2014 edition of the tournament. He made three subsequent seasonal appearances, in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Despite featuring in four IPL seasons for four different franchises, the cricketer made into the playing XI on just 12 occasions.

The 31-year-old recently played the three-match ODI series in Australia. Going wicketless in all three games, the cricketer had an underwhelming outing with the bat too.

While the New Zealand Cricket Board is yet to pick their squad for the T20I World Cup next month, the white-ball specialist is a likely contender to make a cut into the 15-player team.
