Samson catch controversy [Source: @dhillow_/x.com]
The Asia Cup 2025 has been marred with controversies, and an event that was supposed to be a brilliant cricketing experience for the fans has turned into chaos, courtesy of Pakistan cricket. If the handshake saga with the Indian side was not enough, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided to file another complaint to the ICC.
Reportedly, the PCB is unhappy with the controversial Sanju Samson catch to dismiss Fakhar Zaman, and they have once again reached the doors of the ICC.
Why PCB has yet again filed a complaint with ICC?
For starters, Fakhar Zaman was going strong against India in the Asia Cup Super 4 clash, and in his brief stay, the southpaw had accumulated 15 off 9 deliveries before the controversy happened. Hardik Pandya’s delivery was nicked by Fakhar Zaman as Sanju Samson, the Indian keeper, crouched low to grab the ball.
The decision was referred upstairs, and Sri Lankan umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge decided to give the decision in India’s favour as he felt Samson had the gloves below the ball when he caught it. The Pakistan batter was unhappy with the decision, and as per reports by Geo News, PCB has filed an official complaint regarding this.
PCB Drama continues in Asia Cup
This is not the first time Pakistan has filed a complaint against an official of the Asia Cup. In the group stage match against India, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side ignored the Men in Green and didn’t shake hands with them.
This infuriated the PCB, as they lodged a complaint against the match referee for not maintaining the Code of Conduct. However, the ICC rejected the plea as PCB took a drastic step by boycotting the UAE clash, a decision which they reversed before the game.
Expect the PCB complaint to be rejected once again, as the umpires are not humans and they could be at fault.
