In a delight for Tamil Nadu fans, a new international cricket stadium is in plans to be developed in Coimbatore.

If the reports are to be believed then the upcoming stadium is also touted to be the largest cricket stadium in the country. However, it is not clear whether it will be the largest in terms of seating capacity or the dimensions.

The plans to construct a new stadium in Tamil Nadu were announced by state CM M.K. Stalin in April this year.

In the latest events, the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority has invited tenders for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Coimbatore International cricket stadium.

The Ondipudur area in Coimbatore has been selected as the site of the stadium, TRB Raaja declared.

Other New Stadiums In India

Meanwhile, it will be the second international cricket stadium in Tamil Nadu, as they already have the Chepauk stadium in Chennai.

Chepauk is one of the most renowned stadiums in the country, as it is home to CSK and also hosted this year's IPL final. Further, Chepauk is also the third oldest stadium in our country.

Talking about the largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium is the largest stadium in the world in terms of capacity, while the MCG in Melbourne has the biggest dimensions.

Recently, the Telangana government also announced a new stadium on the outskirts of Hyderabad, while Mumbai will also get a new stadium in a few years.
