In a significant development from Pakistan, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has been undergoing extensive renovation from months and as per the latest news, the Stadium has now upgraded LED floodlights ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in February, next year.
As per the reports, the construction company is removing the old floodlights at Gaddafi Stadium, installed during the 1996 World Cup. This will ceratinly help players and improve the watching experience for the viewers. Three lights have been removed from the six towers at the Stadium, and the work of the remaining 3 is in progress. Modern LED lights and two modern screens will also be installed on the tower, and apart from this, central building is also about to be completed.
Gaddafi Stadium is one of three venues designated for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, along with the National Stadium in Karachi and the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.
PCB Chairman Visits Gaddafi Stadium Ahead Of CT 2025
The upgrade process of Gaddafi Stadium has reached almost 50 per cent completion. On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the venue and inspected the renovation process. Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the upgrade process and announced that a cricket museum and a souvenir shop to attract fans.
For the unversed, the Champions Trophy is set to start on February 19, as per the proposed schedule; however, there is no confirmation if Pakistan will host the entire tournament or if it will be a hybrid mode as India has refused to visit Pakistan due to security reasons.
