In a significant development, the emergency meeting between the PCB, ICC, and the BCCI has been postponed to November 30. According to reports, the meeting did not take place at its original time of November 29 and rather it will be held on Saturday.
The reason for the delay has not been revealed as all three parties were supposed to join via video conferencing. According to a report from Revsportz, all the parties were set to join on Friday, but now the meeting has been deferred till Saturday. Further, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is in Dubai, where the ICC headquarters is situated.
Why Did ICC Call For An Emergency Meeting?
Notably, BCCI and PCB could not come to a solution as the Roger Binny-led board revealed that the Indian government did not give NOC to the Rohit Sharma-led side to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Further, the BCCI is pushing for a hybrid model, similar to Asia Cup 2023.
However, the PCB is adamant about hosting the tournament in Pakistan and the tussle between the two boards has resulted in financial loss for the ICC as they are unable to release the schedule for the Champions Trophy and provide it to the stakeholders.
Agendas Of ICC For The Emergency Meeting
Notably, several reports flouted on the internet that the ICC has kept two options open for the two boards.
- The first one is to hold three of India's group stage games, one semi-final and the final in a neutral country with UAE as a frontrunner because of close distance from Pakistan and India.
- The second plan is that if the Indian cricket team does not qualify for the knockouts, both the semi-finals and final take place in Pakistan.
