Cricket Ireland has named Canada Under-19 cricketer Ben Calitz for the upcoming three-match T20I series against England. Calitz’s call-up also marks his maiden one in international cricket. After starting out his competitive career in Canada, the youngster shifted to Ireland and played for the Northern Knights as well as Raiders teams in domestic cricket.
Seasoned batting all-rounder Paul Stirling will continue to lead as Ireland prep to host England for the first-time ever in a T20I series.
Ireland Name Squad For T20 World Cup Prep Series Vs ENG
On Monday, September 8, i.e., roughly 10 days prior to the first match, Cricket Ireland named Ireland’s 14-player squad for the home series against England. Paul Stirling will continue to lead the Irish bunch, and he will be accompanied by fellow star attractions like Ross Adair, Curtis Campher, Harry Tector and others. Gujarat Titans fast bowler Josh Little, however, failed to make a cut into the line-up.
Notably, Cricket Ireland also included uncapped Ben Calitz in his maiden international call-up. The young left-handed batter, who previously played for Canada Under-19s, has one first-class match, 11 List A games and 17 T20s under his belt.
