Can Rajasthan Royals Get IPL Ban If They Are Found Guilty Of Match-Fixing?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was going at a strong note, but half-way through the season, a major controversy has struck one of the franchises - Rajasthan Royals. The former IPL champions have been accused of match-fixing by Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of the ad hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

The convenor has openly accused the franchise of match-fixing and the allegations came up after RR's controversial loss against LSG in their last IPL match. In the games against Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, RR were at the pole position to win the match, however, they choked at the last moment and lost both the games.

Hence, due to the surprising nature of their defeat, the convenor has raised his doubts on RR's IPL future. Now, the question arises, can the franchise be banned if they are actually found guilty of match-fixing?.

Will RR be banned if match-fixing allegations are true?

The allegations were made by one of their own association member and if the IPL governing body does investigate the matter and if anything looks fishy or there are evidence that RR deliberately lost the match against DC and LSG, then the franchise could once again be banned from the league, just like it happened in 2016, 2017.

Why were RR banned in 2016, 2017?

The IPL spot-fixing scandal first came to light during the 2013 season when Delhi Police arrested few RR players for alleged involvement in betting and spot-fixing activities. In 2015, the team was banned for two-years due to inappropriate and fictitious bids were made, violating the BCCI norms.
