Jasprit Bumrah likely to be rested vs Bangladesh [AP]
As per emerging reports, India might rest three key performers- Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Siraj- in their upcoming Asia Cup 2023 fixture against Bangladesh. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Indian management might bench these three players against the Tigers on Friday, replacing them with Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, respectively.
Bumrah, Pandya and Siraj are, therefore, likely to be rested for the final Super Four game as a part of workload management.
The move will also allow the Men in Blue to test their pace reserves, particularly Shami and Prasidh, in the tournament. Furthermore, in Pandya’s absence, Shardul Thakur, who missed the last game against Sri Lanka, will shoulder the all-round responsibilities alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.
The report further suggests that Suryakumar Yadav could also get a game at the expense of a batter, most probably Virat Kohli or Ishan Kishan. Meanwhile, to India’s misfortune, Shreyas Iyer is yet to attain full fitness and, hence, is doubtful to feature in this match.
