India (IND) will lock horns with South Africa (SA) in the third T20I of the five-match series on Sunday, December 14 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala. The IND vs SA 3rd T20I will start at 7:00 PM IST.

India

After a sensational 101-run win in the series opener, India faltered in the second T20I, losing by 51 runs as they failed to chase a stiff target of 214. It was only India’s fourth defeat since November 2024, having played 21 matches in that period, but the loss has sparked discussions around their tactical choices.

Questions have been raised over Shubman Gill’s role at the top, as well as the decision to promote Axar Patel to No. 3. Despite the setback, India have plenty of positives. Abhishek Sharma has been outstanding throughout the year with strong support from Tilak Varma while the bowling attack has been expertly led by Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah. India will be keen to bounce back quickly and regain the lead by going 2-1 up in the series.

South Africa

For South Africa, the previous match was a much-needed win. The visitors will be particularly encouraged by Quinton de Kock rediscovering his rhythm in T20Is. While Dewald Brevis has been their most consistent batter, contributions from Donovan Ferreira and David Miller added valuable depth in the last game.

With the ball, Corbin Bosch has been their standout performer throughout the year, while Ottneil Baartman and Marco Jansen impressed with disciplined spells in the previous match. South Africa will look to carry this momentum forward and take the lead.

IND vs SA T20I head-to-head overview

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium pitch report

The HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala allows the ball to travel quicker through the air. The surface generally offers a balanced contest between bat and ball. Batting tends to be slightly easier in the first innings while spinners come into play as the match progresses.

Fast bowlers often enjoy assistance with the new ball due to bounce, wind movement and early swing. Evening dew can aid chasing sides, making run-chases smoother. Toss has not played a decisive role here in T20Is with teams batting first and chasing having won four matches each.
