In a significant step toward enhancing player welfare and performance, the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) recently conducted a specialised three-day physiotherapy training program. The session focused on modern approaches to player fitness, injury management, and recovery protocols, aiming to raise the standard of sports medicine within the state.
NCA Expert Leads Workshop On Modern Physiotherapy Practices
The workshop was led by Satish Kumar from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), who introduced attendees to the latest techniques in physiotherapy and sports science. Held at the BCA office, the program saw enthusiastic participation from physiotherapists across Bihar, fostering in-depth discussions on athlete health and conditioning.
Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwari emphasised the long-term benefits of the initiative on cricketers, stating:
"BCA believes that such initiatives will prove extremely beneficial for the state's players. It will not only enhance their sporting performance but also make a significant contribution to strengthening Bihar cricket in the future. This training session will provide both players and physiotherapists with new perspectives and technical knowledge," Rakesh Tiwari added, as covered by ANI news.
Throughout the three days, Satish Kumar shared valuable insights on immediate on-field injury treatment, injury prevention strategies, and the importance of regular fitness monitoring. He highlighted how proper warm-ups and structured recovery sessions are crucial for sustaining player performance over time.
Fitness Program Set To Boost Bihar's Prospects
The program is designed to ensure that Bihar’s cricketers not only maintain peak physical condition but also receive expert care should injuries occur, enabling quicker and safer returns to play. The hands-on training equipped local physios with practical skills to better support athletes at all levels.
Bihar’s upcoming domestic season is set to begin with the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy in the Plate Group, though fixtures are yet to be officially confirmed. As per the draft schedule, Bihar is likely to open its campaign against Arunachal Pradesh on October 15, followed by clashes against Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Mizoram through November.
