India legend MS Dhoni, who has been in stellar form in the IPL 2024, may play next season despite an injury. 

Dhoni played this tournament with an injury, and now, after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been eliminated from playoff contention following a 27-run defeat by Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he plans to seek treatment in London.

CSK sources confirmed that Dhoni will travel to London to address his muscle tear injury. 


"Dhoni might head to London for his muscle tear surgery, which saw him struggling during the IPL. He is not fully fit but wants to continue playing cricket. He will decide about his future only after treatment, which will take him five to six months to recover," sources said.

Despite his injury, Dhoni excelled as a finisher, amassing 161 runs with a strike rate of 220.55, hitting 14 fours and 13 sixes in 14 matches. His performance was a highlight in a challenging season for CSK.

This season, Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Under Gaikwad's leadership, CSK won 7 matches and lost 7, finishing with 14 points. They failed to secure a playoff berth due to a lower net run-rate compared to other teams.

Dhoni's potential return will hinge on his recovery and physical condition post-surgery. Fans will be keenly watching his progress, hoping for his return in IPL 2025.
