For the last 10 days, the Indian team management and the fans have been sweating hard on the fitness of Hardik Pandya. The ace all-rounder suffered an ankle injury during the World Cup clash against Bangladesh, and he subsequently missed the match against the Kiwis.

Update on Hardik Pandya

As reported earlier, Hardik is set to miss a couple of World Cup matches, which includes the big contest against South Africa at the Eden Gardens. However, as per OneCricket sources, Hardik has resumed batting training in NCA and is likely to make his return against The Netherlands, which is supposed to be India's last group-stage match.

The backbone of India's playing XI, Hardik has also started light gym work, which is a promising sign for Team India. Talking about the ankle injury, it occurred when Hardik tried to stop a ball in his own follow-through against the Bangladesh side. He eventually limped off the field and was sent for scans.

The BCCI initially hoped that Hardik would be fit enough for the game against England on Sunday, but with India on the verge of a semi-finale place, the team management aren't taking any risks of playing him ahead of his scheduled recovery.

After the clash against England, India will play against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on November 2.
