Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to return to action in their upcoming match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on March 28. The experienced bowler had missed RCB’s first game due to a minor injury but now seems ready to make his debut for the franchise.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Set To Return?

RCB gave a strong hint about Bhuvneshwar’s return through a social media post on March 24. They shared a picture of their bowlers with the caption:

“Bhuvi will be swinging back into action sooner and bolder than ever!”

The 35-year-old pacer has a wealth of experience in the IPL, having played 176 matches and taken 181 wickets at an economy rate of 7.56. His return will be a significant boost for RCB’s bowling attack.

How Did RCB’s Bowling Fare Without Bhuvi?

In Bhuvneshwar’s absence, young J&K pacer Rasikh Salam got the opportunity to play. Though he was a bit expensive, conceding 35 runs in three overs, he managed to take the crucial wicket of Sunil Narine, breaking a partnership in the 10th over.

Despite missing their experienced pacer, RCB’s bowling unit performed well against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. Josh Hazlewood justified his price tag with figures of 2/22 in four overs, while Yash Dayal picked up a wicket in the slog overs, conceding 25 runs in three overs. Their efforts restricted KKR to 174/8, setting up an easy chase for RCB.

RCB and CSK Start IPL 2025 With Wins

Both RCB and CSK began their IPL 2025 campaigns on a winning note. RCB comfortably chased down KKR’s target of 175 in just 16.2 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. On the other hand, CSK secured a thrilling four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at home.

Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad starred with the ball, taking 4/18, while Khaleel Ahmed picked up three wickets for 29 runs on his CSK debut. Fifties from Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped CSK chase 156 with five balls to spare.
