Beth Mooney, Alana King forge record stand in big win vs PAK-W
Australia Women walloped Pakistan by 107 runs in Colombo in match number nine of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Batting first, Australia hauled 221-9 despite slipping to a precarious 76-7 at one stage. Beth Mooney clattered a counterattacking 109 from 114 balls, mostly while batting with the tail, and shared a record 106-run partnership with number 10 Alana King. Alana herself carved out 51* runs from 49 balls with three boundaries and three sixes, before bowlers wrapped up the Pakistani innings for just 114 in 36.3 overs.
Rashid Khan becomes 2nd fastest to 200 ODI wickets
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan picked up three wickets against Bangladesh in the first ODI match in Abu Dhabi to claim figures of 3-38 from his 10 overs. Rashid’s spell also helped him complete 200 wickets in ODIs, reaching the landmark figure in just his 115th outing. The seasoned Afghanistan cricketer has now become the second fastest spinner in ODI history to complete 200 wickets, surpassing the likes of Shane Warne, Anil Kumble and Adil Rashid; only falling behind Pakistan legend Saqlain Mushtaq in an elite list.
Pat Cummins likely to miss Ashes, Steve Smith to lead: Report
Legendary Australian fast bowler and Test captain Pat Cummins will likely miss this year’s 2025-26 Ashes series at home owing to his back stress injury. As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, Cummins recently went for scans and it was revealed that he is yet to complete his rehabilitation. Cummins’ long-time teammate and batting great Steve Smith will likely serve as Australia’s captain in the series, in case if the paceman does not recover in time for the England Tests starting this November.
Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and Kuldeep rise in ICC Test rankings
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, legendary all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, prolific opening batter KL Rahul and ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav all made rapid gains on the ICC Test rankings among batters and bowlers. The aforementioned four cricketers played crucial roles in India’s emphatic victory over West Indies earlier this week at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. India will now face the West Indies team in Delhi between October 10 and October 14 for the series decider.
