Beth Mooney and Alana King have etched their names in the record books during the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 match against Pakistan in Colombo on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). The star pair added 106 runs from just 97 balls, setting a new world record for the highest ninth-wicket stand in Women ODIs.

It is important to note that this is the first time in Women’s ODI history that a ninth-wicket partnership has crossed the 100-run mark. Australia found themselves in deep trouble at 115/8, when Mooney and King stitched a much-needed partnership for the team and from there the team recovered and scored a competitive total of 221/9 in the allotted 50 overs.

Highest 9th wicket partnership in Women's ODIs

Before this match, the highest ninth-wicket partnership in Women’s ODIs was 77 runs, made by Ashleigh Gardner and Kim Garth for Australia against South Africa in North Sydney in 2024.

And ahead of this the ninth-wicket record was 73 not out, set by Isa Guha and Lynsey Askew for England against New Zealand in Chennai in 2007.
